I was saddened today. On a trip to London, I dropped into a famous toy store. I remembered from my childhood what an adventure it was to visit there at Christmas. I suppose its not surprising that it looked a lot smaller than I remember, however the most depressing thing was the items on sale. The shop appeared to be filled with rows and rows of plastic toys and figures linked with Movies or Television programs. Very few things seemed the slightest bit educational. Surely we owe it to our children to stimulate their imagination, not just spoon feed them with tacky advertising gimmicks.

This photoset is by Marcus Koppen, you can find more of the same and other genres on his website. I don’t know how he has managed to capture the light and the dynamics and what is even more unbelievable is they were all taken on film not digital.

Maybe not the happiest mash-up, but interesting none the less. GroundZero allows you to project a nuclear hit on the address of your choice, happy mapping

Great stuff from Jamie Hewlett who is the the visual mastermind behind Gorillaz. Monkey Bee was made
to accompany “Monkey: Journey To The West”. The album, a collaboration with Damon Albarn. Both are available on iTunes. Something to eclipse the dross of X-Factor
